Maranatha Christian Academy (MCA) is a private school serving Grades Pre-kindergarten through 12 in Brooklyn Park, MN. Our vision is for every Maranatha student to be highly educated, Christ-centered, and biblically anchored world changers.
Position Summary
Maranatha has an immediate opening for a Pre-K Lead Teacher, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm for the current school year. The Pre-K Lead Teacher provides instruction and care in spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical development for young children. This position partners with families to nurture early learning, faith formation, and foundational skills through a Christ-centered environment that is safe, loving, and engaging.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and models a consistent daily walk with Him in attitude, speech, and actions.
- Provides direct supervision of students during class, recess, lunch, and after-school programming in MCA's X-tended Day program.
- Motivates students to accept God's gift of salvation and nurtures their growth in faith.
- Follows the Matthew 18 principle in working with students, parents, staff, and administration.
- Plans and leads developmentally appropriate lessons in literacy, math, Bible, and other content areas following MCA's curriculum and Minnesota standards.
- Prepares weekly lesson plans and submits them to the principal.
- Leads whole group and small group instruction; reteaches and reinforces concepts when needed.
- Integrates music, art, play, and hands-on learning into daily instruction.
- Assists children in developing habits of organization, good study habits, and positive social skills.
- Observes, assesses, and documents student progress; communicates with families and administration regarding student development.
- Maintains attendance and progress records as required.
- Partners with classroom assistants and collaborates with grade-level peers to enhance learning.
- Maintains discipline through encouragement, conflict resolution, and Christ-centered motivation.
- Organizes and participates in games, songs, stories, and creative activities to support learning.
- Ensures classroom setup, bulletin boards, and materials reflect a welcoming and engaging environment.
- Communicates regularly with parents about student progress and classroom happenings.
- Builds positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to strengthen the MCA community.
- Coordinates class field trips and special activities as appropriate.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate's degree or higher, preferably in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Previous experience teaching or assisting in early childhood or elementary education.
- Current Minnesota state teaching license preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong classroom management and conflict-resolution skills.
- Skilled in using developmentally appropriate assessment methods.
- Ability to integrate technology effectively into instruction.
- Adaptable in instructional methods to support varied learning styles.
- Ability to work confidentially and with discretion.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, sit, and walk. The employee may need to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The daily noise level for this position is typically low to moderate, but it can be loud at times.
