    Job Description

    UpLift is currently looking for FST I – III to oversee assigned Compression Packages in a generally close proximity area. The positions are also eligible as a rotator position. This is a great opportunity to work in a specified area and join a growing team. A Field Service Technician is responsible for safely performing preventative maintenance, advanced maintenance, procedures, and responsibilities associated with working on gas compression packages under general guidance. An FST acquires proficiency in performing advanced maintenance, overhauls, equipment installation, building and maintaining customer relationships, and providing effective support for troubleshooting with limited supervision. Team members have the opportunity for career growth.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Perform scheduled PM and corrective field mechanical services on gas compression packages.
    • Submit accurate and detailed field service reports, expense reports, timesheets, and other necessary paperwork daily and per customer policies.
    • Ensure a routine maintenance plan in place to minimize down time on all assigned equipment.
    • Independently diagnose/troubleshoot engine/compressor failures accurately and efficiently.
    • Responsible for accurately completing basic engine tuning functions to adjust engine performance and emission on major OEM's (CAT), and Waukesha a plus.
    • Represents the company in a professional manner while providing outstanding customer service and support that aligns with company's core values, customer commitment, and vision.
    • Inventory/Material Needs – Manages and communicates supply, storage, and access to parts to ensure optimal job planning and minimize overstocking and shrinkage.
    • Complete accurate and timely rebuilds/overhauls of engines, compressors, and controls on gas compressor packages in the field.
    • Assists with installation of package units including start-up inspections with supervision.
    • Accurately respond and repair recurring problems and emergency services independently.
    • Responsible for providing some mentorship and training to new Field Technicians.
    • Attendance/Participation to HSE Meetings and follow the HSE Program is required.
    • Must be available for on-call rotation, respond to afterhours requests regularly, and effectively make emergency repairs as needed 24/7.
    • All duties and responsibilities may include travel at short notice including nights, weekends, holidays, and may be for short or extended periods.
    • Maintain assigned units in a safe, clean, and organized manner following general housekeeping.
    • Maintain and operate company vehicle according to company guidelines.
    • Work with sales to identify new opportunities.

    Qualifications

    • Proven knowledge of machines, tools, methods, materials, maintenance, and the processes utilized in the repair of gas compression equipment.
    • Possesses strong knowledge of compressor packages, including some components and systems.
    • 2+ years mechanic of gas compressor units (CAT, Ariel, Waukesha, etc.)
    • Preferred – OEM, Trade School, or comparable work experience.
    • Essential Competencies – Effective communication both written & oral, TeamWork, Strong Mechanical Aptitude, self-motivated and self-starter, strong character, high initiative to perform, problem solving, ability to assist in planning, exceptional customer focus, and analytical skills.
    • Ability and skills to perform mechanical inspections using micrometers, electronic diagnostic equipment, alignment, and other specialty tools.
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) & other computer programs as needed.
    • Maintain a Valid Driver's License & clean driving record within company policies is required.
    • Safeland (PEC Basic Orientation) or ability to obtain.
    • Forklift Certification or ability to obtain.
    • Ability to effectively communicate written and verbally in English with supervisor, team members, and customer including instructions, procedures, and training.
    • Must have the ability to legally work in the U.S.

    Equipment Experience

    • CAT 3500/3600 Natural Gas Engine experience required.
    • Waukesha 7044/7042 preferred.
    • Ariel experience required.

    Working Conditions & Physical Demands

    • Must be able to work under pressure, complete tasks in a timely manner, and fit for duty for the job tasks performed per the role.
    • Must be able to work independently, with assistance, and in a TeamWork environment.
    • Assist the team with developing and improving work processes.
    • Must be able and willing to communicate and respond to co-workers, customers, and emergency alarms/cues in person and on the telephone.
    • Periodically lift, pull, push, and carry over 50 pounds.
    • Requires good balance, ability to stand, kneel, bend, twist, climb, and stretch over and under equipment, vertical ladders, and stairs.
    • Ability to drive and work outside or inside for reasonable periods in inclement weather.
    • Working conditions vary by job site including outside exposed to the weather, or indoors.
    • Must be able to maintain balance on ladders or stairs without assistance.
    • Must wear all required PPE per policy.
