    GIS Analyst

    **As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen AND an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance to be considered.

    Our client's vision is to be the central epidemiological resource and a global health surveillance proponent for the U.S. Armed Forces. As a key player in this mission, the GIS Analyst will assist the Integrated Biosurveillance (IB) Branch. They will work to develop new GIS capabilities to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present various types of geographical data, contributing directly to our goal of promoting, maintaining, and enhancing the health of military and military-associated populations.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    Estimated Starting Salary Range for GIS Analyst: $75,000 to $85,000.

    Pay commensurate with experience.

    GIS Analyst Responsibilities Include:
    • As a GIS Analyst, your primary responsibility will be to utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze, interpret, and visualize spatial data primarily related to infectious diseases or outbreaks of military relevance.
    • Collaborate with the team to gather and process geographic data, creating maps and dashboards that inform DoD decision-making.
    • Manage database systems, troubleshoot technical issues, and develop customized geospatial solutions to address specific project requirements.
    • This role will be crucial in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of geospatial information, and we expect you to be a highly motivated team player with attention to detail.
    • Assist in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining web maps and dashboards to track outbreaks and communicate relevant information to stakeholders.
    • Support data analysis and visualization by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting spatial data.
    • Conduct spatial analysis and disease modeling to facilitate decision-making processes.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems within applications.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
    GIS Analyst Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
    • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Science, or a related field; a graduate-level degree is strongly preferred.
    • Minimum of three years of experience performing GIS-related tasks is required.
    • 2-5 years of experience supporting Federal Government clients, particularly DoD, preferred.
    • Familiarity with ESRI software products such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Portal, and ArcGIS Online.
    • Knowledge of Python and/or other object-oriented programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, HTML, CSS, C#, .NET) required
    • Understanding of vector and raster GIS data types.
    • Capability to create and modify geographic data from various sources.
    • Ability to learn new technologies quickly, work independently, and deliver results within deadlines.
    • Strong command of the English language for presenting analytical results.
    • Excellent collaboration, organizational, and attention to detail skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and multidisciplinary team.
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance and US Citizenship required.
    • Position will be a hybrid work environment with a mixture of telework and in-person work in a climate-controlled office setting.
    • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
