    The Tax Operations team is seeking a candidate who is ambitious and enjoys taking on exciting new challenges. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, collaborates with cross-functional teams, promotes critical thinking, and is a natural problem solver. The role involves aspects of Accounting, Compliance, Corporate Finance, Tax, and Risk Management. To support the day-to-day operations, the VP will oversee and participate in a variety of imperative work-streams; Tax Documentation, Tax Withholding, Tax Reporting, Operational Process Improvements, and Technology Product Management. The candidate will be expected to supervise Production responsibilities and be comfortable driving/executing organizational change strategy to better serve our clients. The Tax Operations VP position will report directly into the Director of Client Reporting Operations

    Responsibilities:
    • Manage staff and day-to-day operations, which includes Tax Documentation, Withholding, and Reporting.
    • Supervise tax form validation process including W-9/W-8 forms, supporting documents, W-8IMY intermediary allocation, withholding statements, and the Annual W-8 Remediation.
    • Oversee tax withholding analysis and reconciliation, including Backup, FATCA, and NRA.
    • Maintenance of reporting obligations, submission deadlines, and legal requirements.
    • Communicate with account representatives to resolve withholding and/or reporting issues.
    • Direct tax year-end reporting, including Form 1099/1042-S, as well as filing returns 945/1042/8966.
    • Facilitate B/C Notices and liaise with Corporate Tax to abate any penalty notices.
    • Perform surveillance by reviewing exception reports and perform periodic checks to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, as well as other established risk and control framework.
    • Drive the continuous process improvement work-stream, identifying opportunities within the team or organizational unit that will strengthen controls, and/or efficiencies.
    • Lead the tax product management work-stream; logging issues and enhancements that need to be resolved by technology internally or by other technology vendor-supported systems externally.
    • Examine Key Performance Indicators (KPI), Key Risk Indicators (KRI), and prepare other metrics for senior management to review.
    • Participate in planning and strategy sessions to resolve Self-Identified Issues, and assist with execution as needed.
    • Leading Strategic Initiatives, drafting business requirements Documents (BRDs), working closely with the appropriate Project Managers, and Technology Leads through Design, Development, SIT, and UAT.
    • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as needed, and closely coordinate with the appropriate Project Managers and Technology Leads.
    • Partner with Business Unit Risk Management (BURM) on various objectives ranging from RCSA, Control Testing, End User Computing (EUC), Management Self-Identified Issues (MSI), Business Continuity Planning (BCP), internal and external audits.
    • Administer Vendor Management responsibilities; Start of Work (SOW) contracts, monitoring the associated approval process, invoicing, day-to-day issues, escalations, and monthly reviews.
    Requirements:
    • A Bachelor's degree. An MBA, CPA, or CFA would be considered a plus.
    • 10+ years experience with Tax, Compliance, Accounting, or Audit.
    • Experience working within Financial Services, or Consulting (big 4) considered a plus.
    • Strong understanding of the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and rules/regulations including; FATCA Chapter 3/4/61, CRS, 871m/305c, and 1099/1042-S reporting.
    • Knowledge of Tax software, such as Broadridge ADP, IMPACT, Markit CTI MD3/TFV, Thomson Reuters OneSource, 1099PRO, Stone River, and Sovos, considered a plus.
    • Exceptional Project Management skillsets; understanding of waterfall and agile principles.
    • Project Management software; JIRA, Microsft Project, Ariba, Tableau, considered a plus.
    • Familiar with either the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, or Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certificate program as it relates to project management. Not required, but considered a plus.
    • Subject Matter Expert on core Tax Operations concepts; Documentation (W8/W9) Withholding (NRA/Backup/FATCA), Reporting (1099/1042-S), and filing returns (945/1042/8966).
    • Fluency in English; fluency in additional languages considered a plus.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, effective communicator, with ability to influence and negotiate.
    • Microsoft Office; intermediate to advanced.
    The typical base pay range for this role is between $101K - $136K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
