- Drive a truck and operate specialized pump equipment on the vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials.
- Prepare customer delivery tickets specific to the product delivered and obtain customer signatures.
- Complete accurate electronic Driver Logs daily.
- Document record of materials and products transported.
- Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, and shipping manifests according to state and federal regulations.
- Communicate, verbally and electronically, with dispatch regarding delivery instructions.
- Interpret maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
- Secure cargo prior to and during transit.
- Ensure elite standard of all operating equipment including but not limited to the inside cab, outside cab, outside tanks, hoses, trays, fittings, and all other ancillary parts.
- Complete additional assigned duties.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
- Covanta offers GED Works - a fully funded program for employees to achieve their GED.
- Must be 21 years or older, due to interstate travel in a commercial vehicle and federal regulations.
- Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. Tanker endorsement preferred but not required.
- HAZMAT endorsement is a plus
- Minimum 2+ years of driving experience.
- Has not received any disqualifications to drive a commercial motor vehicle according to the provisions of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations,
- Abide by standard DOT regulations at all times.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must be responsible, well organized, and exhibit great safety awareness (identity and correct conditions that affect employee and client safety).

About the role

Position Description:
The CDL B Hi-Vac Driver will drive a truck with a liquid capacity of more than 5000 gallons to transport materials to and from specified destinations.
CDL Drivers will have the opportunity to operate a variety of equipment, including vacuum tankers, vacuum trucks, vans, and flatbeds.
