- Ensure proper dosage/distribution and instruct residents on application/consumption of medication per the direction of their physician
- Take vital signs, residents' weights, apply creams/ointments, collect specimens, lift, move, and transport residents, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices to prevent accidents.
- Attend to the resident's needs, including; grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, colostomy care, prosthetic appliances, transferring, ambulation, range of motion, communication, in keeping with the individuals' care requirements
- Ensure individualized care plans are followed and provide care planning staff with specific information, changes, and observations of the residents' needs and preferences.
- Document care in keeping with department policies
- Possess a CMA certification in the state of employment
- Can obtain CPR/BLS card
- Read, write, speak and understand English
- Follow prescribed safety and infection control procedures
- Have compassion and interest in working with the senior population
- Communicate and interact tactfully with others
