Job summary
This position performs the registration function for patients entering the health care organization through outpatient and/or Laboratory outreach services. In addition to registration, this position is also responsible for order entry, specimen labeling, and customer service functions.In a friendly manner greet patients promptly and identify them in system(s) providing direction based on review of orders and patient needs acknowledge assist with special needs respects confidentiality accurately identifies patient performs registration functions including obtaining information signatures consents scans documents collects payments as needed acts as Laboratory customer service representative responds telephone calls according to customer service standards directs appropriately works scheduling system ensures patients cared timely ensures maximum utilization resources works independently if needed off-site locations enters/releases testing orders reviews accuracy ordering physician patient location specimen integrity alerts appropriate personnel follows established protocols operational situations prevents crisis delays maintains records files daily logs department activity logs promotes working relationships multi-skilled team environment facilitates teamwork participates education opportunities staff meetings in-services reviews minutes meetings attended fulfills compliance responsibilities related position performs duties assigned.
