Job description
NYC Parks is the steward of over 30,000 acres of land – 14% of New York City.We operate more than 800 athletic fields and nearly 1,000 playgrounds, 1,800 basketball courts, 550 tennis courts, 65 public pools, and 51 recreational facilities.

Major Responsibilities
Maintain, adjust and repair building hardware and equipment.
Conduct general maintenance of properties and facilities, including refuse material.
Inspect facilities and properties, make repairs and remove graffiti.
Make minor repairs to masonry, woodwork, flooring and walls.
Make minor repairs to building electrical, plumbing and heating systems.
Keep accurate logs and records of daily activities.

Staten Island
Duration: 6 months, April 2026 to October 2026
Fees:
Hired candidates will be subject to a processing fee of $40.00. Hired candidates who are not currently employed by the City will be subject to a $104.50 background check fee.

MAINTENANCE WORKER
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a mechanic, journeyperson or helper in the electrical trades, the mechanical trades, or the construction or maintenance of buildings; or
At least two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above plus sufficient full-time training or education in the electrical, mechanical or construction trades in a trade school, technical school or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience.
Six months of experience will be credited for each year of full-time acceptable training or education.55a Program
This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness
As a prospective employee of the City of New York, you may be eligible for federal loan forgiveness programs and state repayment assistance programs.
Residency Requirement
Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service.
