    Description

    Summary Statement

    This is a full-time tenure-track faculty position responsible for teaching and coordinating the Medical Laboratory Technician program core curricula. The instructor/coordinator will participate in student recruitment and retention, procurement of program materials, oversight of program accreditation, and supervision of adjunct faculty.

    Essential Duties

    • Teach a designated number of credits per semester, perform program coordination responsibilities, assess learning outcomes, and advise students on courses and career objectives.
    • Recruit and market the Medical Laboratory Technician program to students and the local community.
    • Promote shared governance, professional development, college service, and community service activities.
    • Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and revision, ensure compliance with accreditation standards, and recommend equipment and supplies.
    • Deliver student-centered courses, develop instructional materials, and participate in student outcome assessment projects.

    Education and Experience

    A Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required. Current national certification through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification is also necessary. Three years of work experience in a clinical/medical laboratory and three years of teaching experience in post-secondary education are required.

    Skills and Abilities

    The ideal candidate should have strong organizational and writing skills, attention to detail, excellent advising/counseling skills, and the ability to establish good working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.

    Working Environment

    A traditional classroom/lab/clinical learning environment is expected.
