    Purpose of the Job



    Sr. Manufacturing Automation Engineer will be responsible for planning, specification development and design of automation equipment, process, assembly tooling, and assembly line layout for New Product Introduction (NPI) and existing processes. This role will have responsibilities for Automation development and deployment across the region of Americas across 4 sites. Ensures process design supports manufacturing of products that meet quality standards while minimizing production problems and costs. Develops semi- automated/fully automated solution for existing manual processes. Develops and maintains manufacturing line layouts for maximizing space, efficiency, and effectiveness. Ensures compliance with industry safety and design standards and guidelines. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of engineering projects.

    Primary Location is Aurora, IL. This role can be hybrid but will need travel.



    Key Tasks & Responsibilities



    Engineering Responsibilities:

    • Ideate & lead automation projects including concept work, equipment specification, project management, factory acceptances, installation, and commissioning/debug.
    • Works with external vendors as well as internal engineers on RFQ, design, development, prototyping, process development, validation and scale up of Automation projects.
    • Work with Product Designers, Project Managers, Manufacturing personnel, Manufacturing Engineers and equipment vendors to Design, develop & deploy automation for manufacturing processes
    • Manufacturing tooling design and integration knowledge using with CAD, SolidWorks is required
    • Responsible for identifying projects to increase production capacity and improve product quality.
    • Identify potential process improvement projects, design and develop programs to address findings.
    • Build prototypes and develop processes to prove complex/high-risk processes prior to final design.
    • Develops/reviews/maintains/update related documentation, files, procedures, databases, drawings and schematics in order to ensure integrity of unit instrument and process control technologies.
    • Supports manufacturing operations as needed.
    • Knowledge of using vision systems, injection molding and electronic device manufacturing is preferred

    Project Management:

    • Develop end to end plans and manage execution of projects including clear objectives, progress, influencing team members, communication and stakeholder reviews
    • Develop an end to end Automation technology road map for the region
    • Microsoft project skill is a plus

    Work Experience



    Minimum 8 years of experience in a similar role

    5+ years experience developing and deploying automated solutions for manufacturing



    Proven experience of electronic device manufacturing preferred

    • Solid knowledge in the Automation Engineering Design field, with technical experience in the design, optimization, and building of automation equipment.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of plastics and electronic device assembly
    • Experience with PLC's/HMI, robots, motion controls and associated programming software would be a plus
    • Required to have practical hands-on experience with equipment, machining, and general fabrication practices.

    • Strong Experience is design softwares like Solidworks, AutoCAD
    • Strong computer experience, working knowledge of Microsoft products including Office, Visio and Project; SAP Experience (or other ERP system) a plus
