    Job Summary:

    The following essential functions outline the major responsibilities of this position:

    • Provide therapy services consistent with licensure to clients, including evaluation, plan development, treatment implementation, patient education, and documentation.
    • Supervise therapy assistants, technicians, students, and volunteers as applicable.
    • Communicate with other healthcare providers regarding client care and treatment plans.
    • Offer training and education for hospital staff as requested.
    • Complete timely patient documentation to meet regulatory and organizational requirements.
    • Attend continuing education programs and present findings to relevant staff as applicable.
    • Review and complete all insurance authorization requirements for patients in a timely manner.
    • Assist with performance improvement initiatives for the rehab department and hospital.
    • Understand and utilize appropriate treatments and equipment.
    • Contribute positively to the departmental financial performance and productivity.

    Patient Care:

    Deliver care consistent with professional standards and guidelines.

    • Independently complete patient evaluations and treatments while ensuring patient safety.
    • Seek guidance and assistance when necessary.
    • Establish and implement treatment goals and plans based on patient input and evaluation results.
    • Reassess outcomes and modify goals and plans to meet changing patient needs.
    • Schedule patient activities according to individual patient needs.

    Teamwork:

    Develop and maintain positive relationships with team members and coworkers.

    • Function as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
    • Acknowledge and act upon feedback from others.
    • Share responsibility for effective internal communications through a team approach.
    • Organize individual patient caseload in collaboration with team workload demands.
    • Perform daily administrative/office activities to ensure efficient care flow within the team.

    Technical Competency:

    Demonstrate technical competencies and job knowledge related to rehabilitative care.

    • Acquire and maintain knowledge of clinical therapy practice by identifying continuing education needs and participating in educational opportunities.
    • Provide orientation and guidance to new rehabilitation staff in the work area as requested.

    The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited PT program.

    Experience: No experience necessary.

    Licensure: Virginia State Therapy License or Compact Privilege.

    Physical Demands:

    Work Function/Activity: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand.

    The job requires standing and walking constantly and frequently bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
