Part of the Division of Student Affairs, University Housing consists of nearly 2.8 million square feet of facilities and is home to more than 9,000 students.
As a self-supporting auxiliary, University Housing operates a $59 million budget derived only from student housing fees and other non-state sources.
In support of its mission to provide comfortable, affordable and secure housing options where the academic success and personal growth of residents are encouraged and supported, University Housing engages staff members in competency-based training and students in curriculum-based engagement focused on community building, interpersonal skills, social awareness and responsibility, and well-being.

Additional Schedule Information
The office hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and flexible hours are available to accommodate varying class schedules.
Office assistants can work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year, and it is recommended that they work no less than 12 hours per week.
They can also work additional hours during breaks when classes are not in session.If the office assistant is not in classes during the summer, they can work up to 40 hours per week.

Duties/Responsibilities
Greet and provide customer service to individuals when calling, in person or on web chat; refer inquiries to appropriate persons.
Respond to inquiries requiring interpretations of routine policies, rules and regulations; provide information on procedural matters to others.
Maintaining coverage of the main reception desk.
Process fliers and distribute to mailboxes.
Process and distribute mail delivered to Russell Hall.
Assist University Housing staff with vehicle reservations.
Taking vehicles to Fuel Center/Maintenance as needed.
Recording vehicle log into computer database.
Collect /shred documents and recycling as needed.
Provide general office support for various unanticipated projects that arise during the year.
Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary
The Assignment's Office Assistant will support the University Housing office by completing various administrative tasks. The office assistant position is integral for the smooth operations of business practices in the office.
The primary tasks this position will be responsible for completing include the listed position responsibilities and ensuring the main reception desk has coverage.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
Must be enrolled on at least a half-time basis at the University of Georgia when classes are in session (i.e., enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours for undergraduate and professional students during fall/spring semesters; enrolled in a minimum of five credit hours for graduate students during fall/spring semesters).
Must be in good standing with the Office of Student Conduct and University Housing.
Good standing is defined as not being found responsible for policy violations that would interfere with the ability to perform tasks typically assigned to student employees.
Additionally, good standing means that the student employee has participated in the student conduct process if charged with any violations and completed any sanctions that may be assigned by the prescribed deadline.
May not exceed 20 hours of work per week across all student staff positions if positions are held in multiple departments, except when classes are not in session and the student employee has prior permission from the supervisor.
This includes online training, staff meetings and one-on-ones.May not exceed 6 consecutive hours of work per shift.
Student employees are considered temporary employees.
A temporary employee may be separated at any time for any reason without notice and either the employer or the employee can end the employment relationship.
Such separation is not grievable or subject to appeal. ,Compensation,Adhere to a high level of confidentiality and discretion regarding information they will hear in the University Housing office.
Be proficient with software and web-based programs, including Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Acrobat Reader and Outlook email and calendar.
Be proficient with keyboarding/typing skills in order provide clerical support to University Housing staff.Have the ability to communicate effectively in person and via telephone and computer.
Demonstrate organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate information.
Physical Demands
Lift and carry over 20 pounds, both assisted and unassisted.
