    Overview

    Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) has an opportunity for a Secretary at Metropolitan Hospital Center. The hospital is part of the NYC Health + Hospitals System (NYCHHC). Metropolitan Hospital Center located in the Upper East Side, accommodates over 313,000 outpatient visits, nearly 70,000 emergency room visits and more than 13,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains an academic affiliation with New York Medical College.

    Responsibilities

    Under supervision of the Director of Service and Associate Chief, performs secretarial and office related activities. Work is done through the preparation of spreadsheets, schedules and other computer based programs and includes the latitude for independent judgment when necessary.

    • Demonstrates knowledge of the Privacy and Security rules outlined in the HIPAA guidelines.
    • Successfully completes the mandatory three day HHC orientation.
    • Adheres to and conforms to all hospital and departmental guidelines, policies and procedures.
    • Performs various word processing work, including departmental correspondence and letters when needed.
    • Maintains department's payroll records and ensures biweekly payroll timesheets are gathered, completed and signed by Chief of Service accurately and in accordance with payroll deadlines.
    • Coordinates and works as needed to ensure that all necessary billing documentation for the Department is completed.
    • Inventories and orders equipment and supplies for the Department as needed; maintains department equipment through coordination with hospital Maintenance Department.
    • Performs general office work, including answering phone and scheduling appointments.
    • As needed schedules Departmental meetings and maintains Department calendar.
    • Other duties as assigned by Chief of Service.

    Qualifications

    • High school graduate or equivalent.
    • Computer Literate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint)
    • Efficient in operation of PC's, Fax Machine, Copiers and Scanners
    • Salary range: $47, $68,596.95

    This is an 1199 union position. Benefits will come from 1199.
