    The Prototypes & Flight Experiments Branch, AFRL/RVEP seeks to hire a Mid-level, DR-02 Lead Systems Engineer in Albuquerque, New Mexico.


    Position duties include, but are not limited to:

    Works with the Tracker Prime Chief Engineer and Program Manager to develop program wide-processes, align priorities, and safely execute the Tracker Prime space flight experiment mission on schedule.

    Leads government interactions with spacecraft bus developer, launch vehicle team, and payloads team.
    Participates in the design of experimental and prototype systems supporting space vehicle development, test, and on-orbit experimentation and prototyping.
    Develops and maintains technical and compliance documentation.

    Independently performs trade studies to assess technical viability, risk, and cost impacts and provides recommended approaches to meet mission cost, schedule, and performance requirements.

    Works with government and contractor teams to identify risks, schedule, resource needs, and requirements throughout the life of the mission.

    Coordinates with diverse mission partners across industry and government to ensure mission success.
    Monitors and tests application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
    Solves challenging technical and scientific issues as they arise concerning systems.
    Participates in and facilitates technology transfers or transitions.
    Travels as needed to support program efforts and meet with customers or stake-holders.

    Required Qualifications

    US Citizenship
    Must possess an appropriate professional science or engineering (S&E) Bachelor's degree from an accredited academic institution.

    Must possess specialized experience which provides the capacity and skills for working independently, leading collaborative events, working in teams and using these approaches to find and solve complex problems.

    Such experience may also include training, collaborative process facilitation, innovation design practice, writing background, editing job roles, continuous process improvement credentials, multi-agency liaison work, and/or briefings to large groups.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret with SCI security clearance
