Job Description and Duties

Incumbents appointed to this role shall receive the maximum of the pay range along with a recruitment and retention pay differential.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Health Facilities Evaluator Nurse (HFEN) performs inspections, investigations, surveys, and evaluations of health facilities to ensure compliance with licensing and certification requirements. They provide guidance to healthcare facility administrators on inspection, licensing, and certification programs, and enforce state and federal laws regarding healthcare services.
Significant travel is involved.

Employees who telework must be California residents as mandated by Government Code 14200. Candidates residing outside California may be considered for the role but must establish residency in California before employment.

DUTY STATEMENT:

Conducts detailed surveys of healthcare facilities to assess compliance with licensing and certification standards.
Interviews patients to gather relevant information while maintaining confidentiality.
Provides testimony in legal proceedings related to healthcare facility compliance.
Participates in local programs to enhance compliance in healthcare facilities.
Advises healthcare administrators on state requirements for facility operations.
Additional tasks include data collection for special studies and preparing licensing documents.
