    Job Description:
    The mission of Radford University Libraries is to build strong relationships and advance learning with all members of the Radford University community. We will enhance services, collections, and spaces to invite and inspire learning, intellectual and artistic creativity, and the free and open exploration of ideas. We will foster collections, services, and programs that are reflective of a diversity of lived experiences.

    The University Librarian's role is to provide vision and leadership for Radford University Libraries, including McConnell Library in Radford, the Radford University @ Carilion Library, and the extensive online library services. The University Librarian is responsible for the overall management and development of library goals, services, collections, technology, budget, and faculty and staff, and provides leadership in assessing and addressing the information needs of Radford University.

    The University Librarian will report to the Assistant Provost for Student Success, and will work closely with, the Highlander Success Center, Faculty Development and the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning, the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, Graduate Affairs, Student Life, and the Academic Colleges to place the Libraries at the center of innovation, research, learning, and student success. The University Librarian should prioritize collaboration with faculty, academic departments, and university leadership to assess and address the information needs of students, faculty, and researchers, and promote the integration of library resources and information literacy into the curriculum to enhance student success and academic achievement. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated understanding of current issues, future trends, and best practices in academic librarianship, scholarly communication, and higher education;
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders;
  • Experience with strategic planning, budget management, and assessment in a library setting;
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and their applications in library services and operations;
  • Demonstrated experience successfully supervising employees
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • A record of scholarly engagement and professional service in the field of library and information science;
  • Experience in integrating library services into instruction, research, and student success and engagement initiatives.
  • Experience successfully leading change
