RoleAs a Mechanical Engineer you will help design and build automation systems and demonstrators powered by Intrinsic. Your work will unlock and unblock the full potential of our existing robotics lab in Mountain View. Ideal candidates have a bias for action, and aren't afraid of solving unexpected needs of the team.You will likely need to be comfortable navigating ambiguity and willing to learn new skills as the complexity of our work increases over time.
In this role you should expect a wide range of responsibilities including determining requirements, suggesting automation layouts and components, writing clear specifications, reviewing designs, and building a successful solution through the execution of a successful delivery.
How your work moves the mission forwardConcept new robotic automation applications and scope the effort and cost to buildTake ownership of designing and implementing rapid innovative R&D robotic automation workcells (from selecting hardware, electrical design to Robot, PLC and HMI programming).Incorporate knowledge of industrial control systems to establish a standard for hardware selection and PLC software.
Source and integrate best in-class technology products into automation workcells.Multiply capabilities by continuously and actively weighing decisions to build something in-house or working with a system integrator to build a solution.
Work closely with product managers, software developers, and researchers to invent, improve, and maintain our robotic platform. Document and communicate your work for internal and external stakeholders.Skills you will need to be successfulBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology or related fieldProfessional working experience in the area robotics and automationExperience with 3D
