    Description
    The program driver plays an integral role in supporting our Residential Foster Care Program by transporting staff and program residents to various sites/locations. Responsibilities include safely transporting youths and program staff, maintaining a valid driver's license, and complying with NYS Laws. The driver will also be responsible for reporting all vehicle accidents and routine/emergency vehicle maintenance needs. In addition, the driver will display positive values through the use of appropriate standards of employee behavior and utilize the teachings of the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) curriculum to manage residents' negative or challenging behaviors. The driver will also maintain confidentiality of program resident/clients and uphold Catholic Guardian Services' Policy to provide an alcohol and drug-free therapeutic environment.

    • Safely transports youths and program staff to scheduled appointments, recreational sites/activities, schools, and parent/guardian's home as needed.

    • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license at all times and be able to maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.

    • Ensures that transportation complies with NYS Laws (seat belts, car seats, speed limits, etc.).

    • Is aware of scheduled & non-scheduled maintenance and insures that needed car service/maintenance is performed.

    • Returns agency vehicle in clean and usable condition ensuring that the vehicle log is completed and that the vehicle has no less than one tank of gas.

    • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

    • Keeps accurate record of all trips.

    • Displays positive values through the use of appropriate standards of employee behavior. Is courteous to all passengers in the vehicle.

    • Utilizes the teachings of the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) curriculum to manage residents' negative or challenging behaviors as they arise.

    • Reports all critical & non-critical incidents in real time to the Program Director or designated administrator.

    • Checks email daily for updates regarding schedules and itinerary.

    • Complies with all required trainings, including defensive driving, mandated reporter, & TCI.

    • May be required to assist with administrative duties when not driving.

    • Upholds Catholic Guardian Services' Policy to provide an alcohol and drug-free therapeutic environment.

    • Maintains confidentiality of program resident/clients.
