    Special Education Teacher

    Location: Glendale, AZ

    Description: We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in Glendale, AZ. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring that all students have access to high-quality education and achieve academic success. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students and contribute to an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, incorporating appropriate accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies to meet their unique learning needs.
    • Provide direct instruction to students in academic subjects, life skills, social-emotional development, and behavior management, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment conducive to student success.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to create inclusive learning environments and implement accommodations and interventions to support students with disabilities in the general education classroom.
    • Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress, collect and analyze data, and modify instructional strategies and interventions as needed to ensure student growth and achievement.
    • Implement evidence-based instructional practices and specialized programs for students with disabilities, such as multisensory reading instruction, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and assistive technology, to support their academic and functional skills development.
    • Utilize positive behavior intervention strategies (PBIS) and proactive classroom management techniques to create a safe and supportive learning environment and promote positive behavior and social skills development.
    • Collaborate with related services providers, such as speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and behavior specialists, to coordinate services and supports for students with disabilities and facilitate their access to appropriate resources and therapies.
    • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, goals, and individualized supports, fostering positive partnerships and engagement in the educational process.
    • Participate in professional development activities and ongoing training to enhance knowledge and skills in special education best practices, evidence-based interventions, and legal regulations.

    Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution required.

    Certifications:

    • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience working as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting preferred.
    • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, educators, and community partners.
    • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with the ability to create culturally responsive and inclusive learning environments that meet the needs of all students.
