    Position Overview
    The Director of Engineering provides overall leadership to the organization regarding the successful design, construction, commissioning and maintenance of all facility systems (building,

    infrastructure/utilities,

    processing, packaging & laboratory).

    Direction and leadership is crucial in the execution of all Engineering related activities carried out on-site, including but not limited to site master plans, automation, capital projects, utilities, equipment commissioning and validation.

    This role will co-lead, along with Plant Managers, the implementation of systems and processes that will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of site operations.

    The Director of Engineering will be an integral member of the Operations Leadership Team working as a high performing, horizontal team to deliver the overalls goals and objectives of the Operations organization.

    This role is responsible for building, prioritizing and executing the capital budget and the included Operations projects.

    For Operations projects, key deliverables include being On Time, On Budget and On Performance against the expected outcomes of the specific initiative.

    This also includes participation in appropriate forums in order to ensure that our organizational knowledge and processes remain up-to-date regarding the technologies necessary to deliver our products to market.

    Duties/Responsibilities:


    Directly responsible for the management of external professional Engineering and other firms as part of the execution of equipment, facility or utility modification, upgrade, or expansion projects.

    Lead and support activities and functions necessary to ensure successful completion of Engineering projects within set timelines and budgetary constraints.

    Direct and coordinate activities that support the timely and efficient repair and maintenance of all process equipment and facility systems.

    Ensure all facility systems, utilities and equipment are properly maintained to ensure efficient utilization and execution of daily laboratory and manufacturing activities by bringing personal expertise and implementing industry-standard preventive maintenance practices and procedures.

    Accountable for Engineering and Site Capital Project budgets.
    Lead the development and execution of the Site Master Plans and other long-term Engineering and Capital Project plans.

    Ensure that all work carried out and equipment installation is done safely, effectively and in compliance with the appropriate industry standards.

    Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including GMP, OSHA, FDA, HC, TGA and EPA.

    Ensure through efficient design and maintenance that all equipment and facilities comply with all current local, state, and federal regulatory codes and requirements.

    Mentor and coach Operations team members, facilitating and assisting in their development and growth within DFH.
    As growth occurs, develop Engineering resource plans and recruit, develop and manage Engineering talent.

    Build and sustain employee engagement by creating a culture of efficient execution and an environment in which individuals and teams can excel and continuously improve.

    Requirements
    Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (Mechanical preferred); Master's degree preferred
    15+ years of experience in manufacturing-based industries in Engineering, Maintenance and Plant Operations, with 7+ years of experience in a Fortune 500 environment
    Food or pharmaceutical industry experience highly desired.
    FDA and dietary supplement experience preferred.
    Proven ability to lead teams and develop and execute engineering & maintenance strategies and capabilities.
