- Perform and develop rodent surgeries, such as but not limited to, bariatric surgery, catheter implantation, brain stereotaxic surgeries, etc.
- Develop and maintain surgical standard operating protocols for quality and efficiency. Perform in vivo experiments to measure body weight, food intake, and glucose homeostasis.
- Perform routine procedures, such as health monitoring, blood collection, drug administration, and necropsy.
- Work with the team to conduct animal studies including study preparation, data collection, and analysis
- Help with laboratory maintenance including organization and maintaining safety protocols (IACUC, IBC, radiation)

Job Summary:
Dr.
Sandoval's research uses rodent models to study the role of the gut-brain-axis in regulation of metabolism in health, obesity, and type 2 diabetes.
We use a combination of genetic, viral, surgical, and pharmacological studies to examine mechanisms and potential treatments for obesity and type 2 diabetes.
This position is integral to lab function as it involves breeding mice for all research studies in the lab.You will work with a diverse group of individuals to carry some of these key responsibilities:
