    Colorado Academy seeks dynamic candidates for the position of Upper School Computer Science and Robotics teacher. This is a full-time, 11-month faculty appointment that consists of four sections of teaching and an advisory. The position begins in mid-August 2024.

    The Upper School CS Department offers a diverse and exciting range of courses, including introductory programming, robotics, ASR Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, data structures, and algorithmic art. The ideal candidate will be comfortable creating developmentally appropriate curricula, be willing to explore innovative approaches to teaching, have experience establishing a supportive and engaging classroom environment for students, be willing to differentiate to meet the needs of students, and value collaborative work with and feedback from colleagues, administrators, students, and parents/guardians.

    At least two years of experience teaching computer science in an educational environment is preferred or equivalent professional experience in a computer science/engineering related industry.

    Additionally, the ideal candidate will:

    • have a four-year degree from an accredited college or university in a computer science, engineering, math, or technology-related field (an advanced degree is preferred).
    • show a demonstrated aptitude and inclination to learn new and complex technology and will pursue professional development opportunities.
    • experience or ability to teach advanced computer science and Robotics courses.
    • maintain a current knowledge of emerging technologies in computer science and best pedagogical practices. Candidates should be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued and where openness to growth is the norm. Additionally, candidates will be expected to share in the day-to-day life of the school community, which includes serving as an advisor and organizing and running a one-week Upper School Interim. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated intercultural competence, which we define as the ability to understand and bridge diverse perspectives, identities, and lived experiences, is a must.
