- Conducts patrols of assigned areas to deter, identify, and respond to criminal activity;
- Conducts investigations of criminal activity, ensures proper preservation and collection of evidence, executes arrests, and transports offenders in accordance with departmental procedures;
- Conducts interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects to obtain information essential for the investigation of criminal activity;
- Provides first aid and emergency medical care to individuals in need in accordance with established procedures;
- Compiles detailed reports and ensures accurate documentation of all incidents, arrests, and investigative activities in accordance with departmental procedures;
- Provides testimony in court proceedings, presenting evidence and serving as a witness in traffic and criminal cases in accordance with legal and departmental procedures;
- Executes and enforces court orders in accordance with legal and departmental procedures, including warrants, writs, and subpoenas;
- Enforces state and local traffic laws and conducts investigations of vehicle accidents in accordance with departmental procedures;
- Clears roadways of debris and hazards to ensure safe travel and protect public safety in accordance with departmental procedures;
- Assisted stranded motorists and provided support to the public to ensure safety and efficient service;
- Engages in community policing initiatives to build trust, strengthen partnerships, and promote positive interactions between the Sheriff's Office and the public;
- Engages in continuous professional development and training to ensure compliance with certification requirements and maintain operational readiness;
- Maintains operational readiness by consistently demonstrating proficiency with assigned weapons, equipment, and tactical procedures;
- Applies approved use-of-force techniques in accordance with departmental policies to ensure the safety of personnel and the public while minimizing risk of injury;
- Performs additional duties as assigned to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Sheriff's Office.
- Basic Peace Officer's License
- 21 Years of age or older
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Possess a valid Texas Driver's License
- Be a United States Citizen (Born or Naturalized)
- Have a working cell phone
- No more than 20/200 vision that is correctable to 20/20;
- No convictions or court-ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense classified as a class B misdemanor or above within the last ten years from the date of the court order;
- Honorable Discharge from Military Service (If applicable)
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of the local and state criminal justice system.
- Intermediate proficiency with modern office equipment and procedures.
- Ability to become proficient in all County and Department policies and procedures.
