PRN- Day - Hospitalist The Hospitalist is responsible for providing care for the hospitalized patient throughout the hospital stay. The Hospitalist provides emergency evaluation and triage in addition to admission to the hospital and formation of a differential break diagnosis, formulates a comprehensive care plan in accordance with the most up to date evidence-based protocols, and participates in the education of the hospital's physicians, students, nurses and all members of the patient care team. This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this department. GENERAL DUTIES Conducts comprehensive examinations and evaluations and makes treatment decisions. Admits patients to the hospital for primary care physicians on need basis. Provides primary and consultative medical care to patients admitted to various units of the hospital with appropriate subspecialty consultation. Coordinates care of patients through appropriate collaboration with other physicians, nursing staff, case managers and ancillary service providers. Keeps patients informed and gives periodic updates as appropriate. Participates in hospital's utilization management, risk management and performance improvement programs. EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS 2 years of practice as a Hospitalist preferred. EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study required. Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree required. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Current license issued by LA State Board of Medical Examiners WORK SHIFT: Days (United States of America)
