- Orders or performs various tests, analysis, and x-rays to provide information on a patient's condition
- Participation in interdisciplinary rounds
- Diagnoses patient's condition based on exams, tests, and reports
- Prescribes and administers drugs and treatments
- Vaccinates patients to immunize against communicable disease
- Performs surgery and related procedures within scope of training
- Instructs individuals in ways to preserve health and prevent disease
- Reports birth, deaths, and the outbreak of contagious disease to appropriate government authorities
- Coordinates or accomplishes admission to the hospital
- Skilled at EKG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition
- Initiates consultation to other services
- Collaborates with other health care professionals in the planning, implementation and coordination of health teaching and counseling of the patient, family or patient representative.
- Participates in provider-related Quality Improvement Activities
- Works collaboratively with nursing staff and nursing leadership on quality improvement processes and with patient care objectives

OBJECTIVE SUMMARY:
The provider is primarily responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of illness and injury in the hospital setting
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Examines patients using all types of medical equipment, instruments and tests
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Completion of courses from an accredited school with certification granted by accrediting body.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
3 years' experience as acute care hospitalist; 3 years practice in a swing or SNF setting
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid state license to practice as a provider. Board Certified preferred. BLS Certification and ACLS required.
SKILLS:
Good customer service skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Exposed to all patient infectious disease and body fluids. Function in emergencies and incidents.
