    Job Summary
    Senior level position that provides General Accounting support to the Nuclear business unit.

    This includes Stores/Inventory Accounting, Month end closing process, the development of analytic procedures to validate transactions, Regulatory Rate filings, Accounts Payable processing, and other accounting activities related to the Nuclear Plant.

    This position will be required to work independently, solve problems, and communicate outcomes to management.

    Job Description

    Perform general ledger accounting functions, including journal entry process development and review, general ledger account reconciliation review for high-risk accounts, and Stores Accounting functions.

    Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Respond to and review data requests from internal and external auditors.
    Develop and cultivate positive business relationships between Accounting and other Nuclear/AEP business partners.
    Support Accounts Payable Invoice Processing by reviewing invoices for proper accounting and submitting for approval.
    Proactively assess, develop, and enhance Accounting processes and procedures on a continuous basis.
    Participate in special projects, as requested.
    Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support the AEP Corporate Compliance policy.
    Demonstrate an ability to be the lead subject matter expert on Nuclear Accounting activities.
    Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of business solutions software.

    Knowledge of FERC and Regulatory Accounting concepts and principles – specifically as it applies to the Nuclear plant accounts and concepts.

    Support the Nuclear Plant in an Outage role or Non-Traditional Outage position as needed.
    Ability to provide support for the Nuclear plant in Labor Time Entry and Payroll processes.
    Support the Nuclear Plant Decommissioning Study, including the preparation of reports and communication of outcomes to management.

    Education:
    Bachelor's Degree Required in Accounting or related field.

    Experience:
    5 – 10 years' experience
    Strong competency in written and oral communication
    Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with experience using SQL to design custom queries.
    Detail oriented with an ability to employ a logical approach to accomplish objectives and solve issues.
    Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions and adapt to changing circumstances and requirements.
    Ability to work as part of a team and possess excellent time management and organization skills.
    Prior experience in Nuclear or Utility industry is a plus.
    Support Nuclear Plant Emergency Response Organization.
    Understand the role of a Nuclear Professional and how to support it.
    Must establish & maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe driving distance to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant.
