    Job Description

    DeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS) is looking to hire an Industrial Vegetation Management Stormwater Technician to join our team. The applicant will have the opportunity to work in various urban and rural areas. This person will handle using equipment to perform herbicide applications to the county and state roadside rights-of-way to control unwanted vegetation. This position handles spraying complete weed, grass, and brush control to various commercial or industrial sites. This person will also be responsible for assigned vegetation maintenance duties alongside roadways and interchanges.

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

    OPERATIONS:

  • Applies herbicide to control weeds, grass, and brush to various commercial and industrial sites, including but not limited to oil refineries, solar fields, substations, and gas lines.
  • Conducts daily tank mixing.
  • Calibrates all spray equipment.
  • Cleans drains using hand tools such as brushes, rods, and hoses.
  • Inspects drain systems to locate clogs or leaks, using cameras and listening to devices such as stethoscopes to pinpoint the problem spots.
  • Diagnose problems with drain systems and identify solutions to resolve them.
  • Clean pipes of debris using high pressure water jets or other methods.
  • Conducts water quality sampling, monitoring, and testing using standard methods and practices.
  • Uses tractors, zero-turns, mules, edgers, weed eaters, blowers, hand tools, power tools, and/or other equipment to perform landscape duties.
  • Care and maintenance of all plantings at interchanges, flowers, bushes, and trees including replants when needed.
  • Ensures all vehicles, trailers, and equipment are in working order and thoroughly inspected and maintained (responsible for truck/spray system maintenance and repairs).
  • Demonstrates a positive safety culture by performing responsibilities in full compliance with all safety policies and procedures.Follows the safety procedures, policies, and guidelines of the FDOT.
  • Always uses proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Drives company vehicles.
  • Performs all daily/weekly record keeping.
  • Works with minimal supervision and exercises independent judgment.
  • Displays a friendly, helpful, and pleasant demeanor with coworkers, customers, and traveling public.
  • Carry out all duties in line with the Company's policies and procedures as amended from time to time.
  • Perform all duties as assigned.
  • TECHNICAL APTITUDE PREFERRED:

  • Full understanding of weed, grass, and brush types.
  • Full understanding of chemicals used, what they control, and all safety requirements.
  • Full understanding of application methods and equipment.
  • Full understanding of calibration and spray patterns.
  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to travel away from home for up to a week at a time (hotel expenses and per diem paid by the company).
  • Valid driver's license with at least three years of clean driving.
  • Commercial applicator's license is preferred. Must be willing to obtain within the first six months of employment.
  • Related landscaping, drainage, and pesticide background are preferred.
  • First aid and cpr certifications are preferred.
  • Ability to work days, nights, and weekends, as needed.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team in various outdoor climates.
