Responsibilities:
Guest Assistance:
- Welcome guests with a warm and friendly demeanor as they enter the restaurant.
- Provide a positive first impression and set the tone for the overall dining experience.
- Assist guests with inquiries, provide information about the menu, specials, and restaurant policies.
- Address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly.
- Be attentive to the needs of guests, including any special requests or accommodations.
- Handle seating for large parties and special events with care and efficiency.
Reservation Management:
- Manage restaurant reservations, including confirming, modifying, or canceling bookings.
- Maintain an organized reservation system and communicate reservation status to the serving staff.
- Assess the dining room layout and manage efficient seating assignments to optimize table turnover.
- Consider server sections and balance workload among the serving staff.
Waiting Area Management:
- Keep the waiting area clean, organized, and visually appealing.
- Provide waiting guests with accurate wait time estimates and, if necessary, offer alternatives such as seating at the bar.
- Ensure that the host/hostess stand and surrounding areas are neat, organized, and well-maintained.
- Pay attention to the overall cleanliness and appearance of the dining area.
Communication Liaison:
- Maintain effective communication with the kitchen, serving staff, and management to ensure smooth dining room operations.
- Relay special requests, dietary restrictions, or other pertinent information to the serving team.
- Collaborate with servers to coordinate the timing of reservations and walk-in guests.
- Facilitate effective communication between the front and back of the house.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a host/hostess or in customer service is beneficial.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional and positive attitude.
- Familiarity with reservation systems and basic computer skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
