    As the Sales Engineer, you willwork directly with inside and outside Sales (either domestic or international) to prepare quotes and work as project lead on larger projects. You will be responsible for making modifications in our E-Commerce Software to add or change parts as products change, update current configurations in the E-Commerce system and test the configurations. You will be responsible for making some modifications to the E-Commerce platform and working with our outside programmers on other changes. The Sales Engineer tracks the quotes and interfaces with Sales, Customer Service and Engineering as required to deliver a successful quote and subsequent project.

    Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes: Your Accountabilities in the Role

    Quoting and Project Management: 50% of the Job
    1. Receive and log all new specially configured quotes.
    2. Calculate pricing and provide a written quote while working with others in the department to generate house drawings as required.
    3. Manage necessary quote programs for consistent quoting and error free quoting.
    4. Submit quotes to Dealers or Customers for approval.
    5. Track and report quote turnaround, success ratio and any other sales metrics as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
    6. Track Project Financials.
    7. Provide drawings showing equipment layouts and configured outputs.
    8. Follows orders after awards to assure accurate parts lists are entered.
    E-Commerce: 50% of the job
    1. Make modifications to configurators in E-Commerce System for part changes(obsoleting/Substitutions, new part number additions, ECO changes).
    2. Work with outside firm and engineering in setting up new product configurations and quoting tools.
    3. Program new enhancements in our E-Commerce system or work with our outside firm on more complex changes and make sure they are complete and accurate.

    1. Education: Associate degree required, four-year University Degree preferred in technical or computer programming field. Industry experience is a plus.
    2. Experience: Extensive experience (1-2 years) with house design, Bird Management, project management, telephone communications plus proficiency and understanding of computer programming software (word processing, directory structures, internet usage, spreadsheet software) may be substituted for degree requirements
    3. Certification(s): N/A
    4. Functional Skills: Proven ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Seeks guidance and direction as necessary for performance of duties. Demonstrates good judgment in investigating problems. Maintains a positive attitude and cooperative working relationship with the Engineering Manager and all other personnel. Performs all duties in an independent manner with little supervision. Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned and assists others as needed.
    5. Technology Aptitude/Skills: Ability to use Windows based software in a Networked environment. Able to use the Internet effectively for file transmission including e-mail attachment. Must be able to design custom Excel and Word files including formulas, macros, and mail merges. Able to use AutoCad software to design and layout equipment in Poultry barns. Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics, percentages, ratios, algebra, and analytical skills. Ability to calculate part volumes based on geometric shapes.
    6. Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication with strong presentation skills required.

    Equipment Used:
    • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
    Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions:
    • Ability to sit and operate a motor vehicle as needed for travel in the role
    • Ability to stand for up to 4-8 hours in one session
    • Ability to sit at desk for 4+ hours per day
    • Ability to operate keyboard and view computer screen for majority of day 4+ hours
    • Ability to write ideas/information in a logical flow for 4+ hours per day
    • Ability to read and respond on an on-going basis daily due to nature of the work, throughout the day
    • Ability to communicate with others via phone, in-person, and computer on-going
    • Ability to listen to customers, problem-solve, and respond accordingly
    • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
    • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, push, pull, stoop, crouch, and carry items frequently
    • Lifting up to 50 lbs. sporadically
    Environmental Conditions & Travel:
    • The employee is primarily exposed to a normal office environment with moderate noise. The employee is occasionally required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment while visiting manufacturing departments.
    • This position may face inclement weather conditions when traveling.
    • Travel: <10% travel is required, with International travel based on region of responsibility.
