- Implement and sustain Linux based physical and virtual machines for the Missile Defense Space Center.
- Administer OpenShift Container Platform and container Repositories/Registries.
- Work closely with a team of engineers, including additional system administrators, network engineers, system engineers, and cybersecurity engineers, to provide high quality, innovative engineering services to the Government customer.
- Work with system engineers to identify and define requirements for new systems/system modifications, developing designs, and implementing and testing solutions.
- Conduct on-going vulnerability scanning and system patching, as necessary, to reduce cybersecurity risks.
- Conduct daily system monitoring, system backup and restoral, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous system operations.
- Develop and maintain system administration procedures and baseline configuration documentation.
- Be responsible for ensuring system software installations, maintenance, break/fix activities, and cyber security mitigations are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and service level agreements.
- Focus on creating, upgrading, managing, and sustaining physical and virtual workstations and servers
- Be a strong innovator in process improvement and system design.
- Be able to quickly learn challenging concepts, decompose difficult software problems and provide resolution.
- Be able to create and follow standard processes and clearly document results.
- Effectively function as self-starter and identify risks, issues, and opportunities to the Lead Systems Administrator.
- Have excellent presentation, oral and written skills to facilitate effective and efficient interchanges with program and government stakeholders.
- Be able to report to Schriever SFB within 2 hours to support mission surge support events.
- Support occasional evening and weekend events for the MDA customer.
- Be able to lead a group of diverse individuals with varying backgrounds to achieve mission success.
- Have a positive, "can-do" attitude, be able to work in a very high paced and dynamic environment and embrace change.
- Must have 7 years of directly related Linux systems administrator experience.
- Must have 1 year of experience in management or leadership roles.
- Must have a recognized active Linux certification (Linux+, RHCSA, LPIC, LFCS).
- Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher (CCNA-Security, CySA+ (formerly CSA+), GICSP,GSEC, Security+, CND, SSCP).
