As a Planning Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials for production, thereby maintaining operational efficiency and meeting production targets. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in material planning, inventory control, and team leadership.

JOB SUMMARY:

As a part of the Blue Bird Planning Team, reporting to the Director, this role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the materials planning department. Responsibilities include managing inventory levels, forecasting material requirements, collaborating with suppliers, and aligning material availability with production schedules. The key focus will be on leading a team of planners, engaging with cross-functional teams, and driving improvements in material planning processes to support operational efficiency and strategic goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead a team of Planners, ensuring objectives are achieved within their assigned supplier/commodity, offering solutions to supply constraints, and providing ongoing training and development
Schedule, plan, and monitor deliveries through the MRP system, communicate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries, and prevent supply disruptions
Own the supply chain for inbound materials, manage inventory, and collaborate with Engineering and Purchasing to prevent shortages
Provide supplier training, maintain clean unit targets, and support team members as needed
Set selection codes for manufactured parts and handle other related duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Proficient in MRP systems, particularly in fabrication and work orders
Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the commercial truck/automotive market
Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors
Proficiency in MS Office applications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field (preferred)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in material planning or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
Proficient with ERP systems, specifically in materials management

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Primarily office environment with occasional exposure to manufacturing conditions
Fast-paced work environment with changing objectives
Flexibility to work during special situations, weekends, evenings, and holidays when necessary
