    Location:
    Wallops Island, VA We are currently seeking candidates for a Communication Electronics Technician, located in our Wallops Island, VA station
    Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) Wallops Island requires support for management, engineering, operation, and technical expertise for activation, operations, maintenance and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs in support of all Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) missions and projects performed at SCSC

    SCSC provides live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric, maritime environment to develop, test, evaluate, and conduct fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on one of following systems, the AN/SQR-4, AN-URC-131, AN/WSC-9(V), Joint Tactical Information Data System (JTIDS), AN/URC-107(V)7, AN/USQ-155(V)6 UHF Systems, SHF SATCOM Systems, and UHF Systems and other communication equipment as necessary
    • Other duties as assigned
    Travel

    • This position includes a low level of travel. Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Seven years demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance for the alignment, adjustment, removal and replacement of Lowest Replaceable Units for one or more of the following, AN/SQR-4, AN-URC-131, AN/WSC-9(V), , Joint Tactical Information Data System (JTIDS), AN/URC-107(V)7, AN/USQ-155(V)6 UHF Systems, SHF SATCOM Systems, and UHF Systems
    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    • Certified, or have the ability to become certified, as a Maintenance Person in accordance with NAVEDTRA 43241-K Naval Education and Training Command Personnel Qualification Standard for 3-M (within a three-month period).
    Qualifications

    • Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired, however candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered
    If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer
    A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted

    • Must possess a valid driver's license.
    • Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations on base.
    • Must have the availability to work varying shifts and weekends as required.
    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to frequently traverse stairs.
    • Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
    • Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
    • Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to wear a harness, climb vertical ladders and work on platforms greater than 20 feet in height
