    We have an exciting opportunity for a

    Chief System Engineer, EX Division

    to join our JETS II contract team at

    NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX .

    Responsibilities:


    The person in this position will work across all projects in the EX portfolio to provide assistance, support and guidance to multiple EX projects in all phases of the mission life-cycle; concept to verification to operations.

    The successful candidate will provide SE expertise and guidance to JETS staff for SE discipline questions as well as practical applications
    This candidate will also provide quick reaction support for emerging and critical systems engineering needs within the division as the need arises
    Perform other duties as required

    Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and may be expected to have a related master's or higher degree and normally possess 15+ years of related experience
    Extensive aerospace industry experience

    Extensive working knowledge and experience with JSC engineering processes for hardware/software development (including NPR 7120, 7123, EA-023/-025) along with associated products (e.g., SEMP, PTRS, etc.)


    Experience across all phases of a mission
    Knowledge and experience of the SE "V"
    Experience leading a multi-disciplinary SE teams
    Experience with various MBSE tools (Cameo, Magic Draw, JAMA)
    Self-motivated, team player that will be comfortable working autonomously to develop or improve processes and practices for all SEs in the EX Division
    Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels
    Ability and willingness to teach and mentor new SEs through training, SE product reviews, discussions and feedback
    Familiarity with Microsoft Office products

    Qualifications:

    10 years JSC/NASA SE experience
    BS engineering, space science, physics or related field

    Leadership Quality Preferences:
    Ability to research practices and processes to obtain information across a distributed organization
    Ability to synthesize other people's thoughts or data into organized constructs that effectively communicates those thoughts/data to others
    Ability to work at both top-level strategies, define lower level aspects of the strategy, break it down into manageable parts, and then lead execution of those work products
    Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures
    Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process

    Professional Skills and Experience Preferences:
    MS or PhD engineering
    Systems Engineering degree(s)
    JSC hardware development experience
    Experience as Project Engineer or Project Manager
    Familiarity with Agile Project Management tools (JIRA, Confluence)
    INCOSE CSEP or ESEP Certification
