    Project Engineer

    MEI, an environmental and civil engineering firm, is seeking a project engineer in their Mobile, Alabama office. A Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering is required. A Master of Science in environmental engineering and PE is preferred. Must have experience in water resource and environmental projects including stormwater, water treatment for potable use, and wastewater treatment and facility design. In addition, candidates should have a strong working knowledge of State and Federal rules and regulations. This person will oversee other staff in performing fieldwork, report writing and review, design and project management, and assure that quality work is provided to clients within established budgets and on time. Experience managing project budgets and schedules and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to effectively perform these duties.

    Responsibilities

    Design, analyze, and manage water resource systems such as water supply, stormwater, wastewater, and irrigation systems.

    • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using software tools such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, or SWMM.
    • Develop and evaluate design documents, including specifications, drawings, and calculations.
    • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed projects.
    • Ensure that projects are finished on schedule and under budget by working together with project managers, other engineers, and clients.
    • Review and approve engineering design documents, including specifications, drawings, and calculations.
    • Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to clients and other stakeholders.
    • Ensure that water resource systems are designed and installed per applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to other team members.
    • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends related to water resources engineering.

    Other Requirements

    • 5+ years of experience in water resources engineering. Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling experience is preferred.
    • Proficiency in using software tools such as ACAD, etc. for design and modeling purposes.
    • Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations related to water resources engineering, such as ASCE, AWWA, and EPA.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Experience with project management and delivery methods such as design-bid-build or design-build is a plus.
