    Major/Essential Functions



    PROJECT MANAGEMENT/DEVELOPMENT: Overall responsible for research projects within the department. Supervises project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure established projects are scheduled and completed within the established timeline, code specifications, and budget. Be informed of the status of all projects. Identify and work with subordinate staff to develop scope and estimates for customer-requested projects and various improvement projects.

    PROJECT UPDATES: Develop/implement methods and procedures for monitoring projects such as preparation of expenditure reports, project research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences to inform management of the current status of each project.

    SUPERVISE SUBORDINATES: Provide supervision and oversight of subordinate staff. Responsible for recruitment and evaluation of all project staff which includes project managers, engineers, and architects. Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department, service, laboratory, or firm. Oversee strategic initiatives for the department and instruct subordinates on tracking and implementing the initiatives.

    ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING REVIEW AND COMPLIANCE: Develop and review projects for compliance with campus departmental standards, building codes, state/federal regulatory requirements, environmental health and safety, design intent, and budget requirements. Provide technical expertise to other departments as needed to assist in maintenance, renovation, and new construction projects.

    FACILITY AUDITS: Assist and guide subordinate staff in conducting facility audits and preparing written reports detailing findings with recommendations for building code and ADA Requirements.



    Required Qualifications



    Bachelor's degree in related field required plus seven years administrative or management experience. Additional education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.



    Preferred Qualifications

    • Possess a professional engineering license in the State of Texas or is a licensed architect in the State of Texas.
    • 10 years of project management, administration, and technical/design employee management experience.
    • Experience with management of Architects and/or Engineers (or other technical design staff) with direct responsibility for analysis/design/administration of projects.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of customers, staff, and vendors.
    • Experience with Microsoft products and construction management software for tracking projects and schedules.
