Shipping Specialist

As a Shipping Specialist at Reader Precision Solutions, you won't just be handling packages you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our machined parts reach their destination with precision and efficiency. Your attention to detail, combined with a sense of urgency and logistical coordination, will make you an essential part of our team.

Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday: 6:30AM - 3:00PM

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

• Verify & maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.
• Compare identifying information including counts, weights, or measurements of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
• Apply shipping labels to packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
• Insert components/parts into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
• Post weights and shipping charges.
• Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages.
• Properly route items to departments.
• Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Assist in maintaining inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Support the Outside Process area within the Purchasing department by shipping and receiving components to and from outside process vendors, verifying shipments, maintaining records, and preparing items for shipment.
• May operate forklift or use pallet jack to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area, or to load or unload delivery vehicle.
• May receive damaged or defective goods returned to establishment.
• Examine processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• All other projects and tasks as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

• A positive attitude and exceptional aptitude for growing your skills
• Previous experience in a shipping role and forklift certification is desired
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A drive for results
• Ability to multi-task with flexibility to prioritize time-sensitive projects/tasks
• A collaborative mindset that focuses on teamwork
• Detail orientation with the ability to accurately follow work instructions
• Ability and commitment to keeping team members well informed and to draw on others' expertise when required
• Knowledge of basic mathematics (arithmetic & geometry)
• Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Good computer skills and ability to demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in data entry
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Vision corrected to 20/20

Physical/Environmental Demands:

• Ability to continuously lift 10 lbs, frequently lift up to 25 lbs, occasionally lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to push/pull up to lbs with wheeled pallet jack.
• Ability to bend and stoop to pick up product.
• Ability to stretch and reach.
• Ability to stand/walk for entire shift.
• Typically, work is performed within a manufacturing environment where the noise level is moderate.
