    GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

    The Assistant Director of Veteran and Military Benefits works in conjunction with the Director of Veteran and Military Benefits to ensure proper administration of veteran and military educational benefits and will work closely with campus Veteran and Military Benefits Specialists to ensure compliance with rules and regulations surrounding the administration of veteran's programs.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work as liaison with all branches of the military, including the Indiana National Guard to help ensure the coordinated administration of veteran and military educational benefits.
  • Administers and supervises system-wide certifications of all VA educational benefits at all Ivy Tech Community College facilities, including the Post 9/11 GI Bill (Ch. 33), the Montgomery GI Bill (Ch. 30 and Ch. 1606), Survivor and Dependent Educational Assistance Program (Ch. 35), and Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (Ch. 31).
  • Maintain system-wide Tuition Assistance portals for all military tuition assistance programs at Ivy Tech (Army, Air Force, MyCAA, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard).
  • Monitor annual training compliance of campus Military and Benefits Specialists and report new point of contact designations to the VA.
  • Coordinate and administer any new VA initiative programs to allow the Veteran and Military Benefits Processing Center to process the enrollment.
  • Supports campus Veteran and Military Benefits staff members.
  • This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

    SALARY RANGE: $50,000 - $55,000 Annualized

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate Degree and at least 3-4 years of related work experience, or Bachelor's Degree and at least 1-3 years of related work experience.
  • Strong analytical, planning, organization, interpersonal and oral and written communication skills required.
  • Must be detail oriented and have an ability to travel throughout the state.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge with Microsoft Office applications, Internet and web-based systems required.
  • Prior military experience is preferred.
