You will serve as an Electronics Mechanic Leader (Expert) in the DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY.
You will serve as an Expert Electronics Mechanic leading a group to ensure work assignments are completed. This position is located in Shop 52 and 67.

\Current permanent employees of Norfolk NSY (UIC 42158), PHNSY & IMF (UIC 32253), Portsmouth NSY (UIC 39040), PSNS (UIC 4523A), DoD Military Spouse Preference (MSP) eligibles, DoD Military Reserve (MR) and National Guard (NG) Technician Preference eligibles, DoD Retained Grade Preference eligibles, and VEOA eligibles.

You will apply advanced trades knowledge and techniques in of operation, capabilities and limitations of electronic equipment and systems.

\You will guide, train and mentor shop personnel performing the removal, disassembly, overhaul, troubleshooting, modification, repair, installation and testing of various electronic equipment.

\You will setup, operate and troubleshoot the various types of equipment utilized to manufacture and overhaul surface and sub-surface ship components.

\You will use a variety of technical manuals and specifications to determine requirements and ensure quality control is maintained. \Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

\Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

\Males born after must be registered for Selective Service. \You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.

You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

\Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

\This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.

You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

\This position requires the ability to climb vertical ladders when working aboard ships and submarines, and occasional work work from ladders, platforms and staging areas.

\Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. You will be subject to random testing. \This position may be subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. \This position requires rotating shift work.

\Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
