Overview

The Junior Cyclotron-Support Engineer I is a training position with dual responsibilities to the Cyclotron-Support Engineer duties and the Network Operations Group within a SOFIE radiopharmacy.

This training program provides readiness to become responsible for the front-line maintenance, routine checks, set-up, and operation of all PET manufacturing equipment at the facility.

This includes cyclotrons, radiosynthesizers, manipulator arms, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operate cyclotron(s), radiosynthesizers, and QC equipment per operating procedures.
Perform routine, non-routine, scheduled, and emergency maintenance on the cyclotron.
Participate in inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting with senior Service personnel.
Complete Service tickets, time cards, and expense reports in a timely matter.
Maintain a clean, clutter free work and production area.
Aid in the implementation of all approved SOP changes with regards to the production and QC process.

Provide operation coverage up to but no more than 50% of your time, when required by schedule for cyclotron, chemistry modules, and QC equipment.

Other tasks as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications

Associates Degree in a Technical Discipline preferred or HS diploma with 1-2 years of experience servicing capital equipment required.
Knowledge of basic cGMP practices and procedures preferred.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings preferred.
Knowledge of basic electronic test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscope, and antenna analyzers) required.
Excellent communication skills, ability to be detail-oriented, and dependability required.
Occupational exposure to ionizing radiation required.
Experience with Microsoft Suite required.
Ability to lift 50 lbs required.

up to 10% required.

This nine-month, non-tenure track faculty rank position is eligible for promotion and merit raises and involves a level of effort of about 80% assigned to teaching and 20% assigned to departmental service. The teaching function involves classroom teaching of approximately 7 to 8 sections of Engineering Technology courses per academic year. The service element of the position involves serving on faculty committees, serving as liaison to other WVU units, and participating in planned student-related retention, recruitment, and outreach activities. Responsibilities include teaching courses to undergraduate students related to electronic circuits, PLC programming, robotics, and other engineering technology topics, such as manufacturing tools and processes, CAD, and materials; coordinating courses and class projects; supervising student capstone projects; assisting in establishing industry contacts to support the ETEC program and students; assisting with and leading continual curriculum assessment and development; supporting retention and student success activities in and outside of the classroom, including supporting scheduled ETEC events and activities; mentoring and assisting undergraduate engineering technology students; and representing the ETEC program and the College to prospective students and families, visitors, and other interested parties from within and outside of WVU, as well as at campus and outside events. Additionally, Teaching Assistant/Associate Professors are encouraged to engage in and support limited engineering technology education research. The Statler College currently has seven academic departments, over 3, 800 students, and 147 faculty members, with about $42M in annual external research expenditures.
