    Description


    The Network/Systems Administrator is part of the Technology department. They will:
    ? Manage the school network (servers, broadband, firewall, backups) to maintain a stable infrastructure that supports the instructional program
    ? Maintain all systems that support the school. This includes servers, Active Directory, Azure, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace for Education, printer management, device imaging/management, VoIP phone system, etc.
    ? Monitor and actively protect the network, systems, and school devices through various cybersecurity solutions to ensure data protection and reliability


    Responsibilities
    Network Management:
    ? Coordinate, supervise, and schedule the design, installation, and maintenance of the school network and wireless infrastructure, ensuring connectivity and reliability
    ? Evaluate, recommend, and implement changes to current and future network designs and technology with an emphasis on improving cybersecurity
    ? Perform periodic penetration testing, firewall monitoring, and network oversight to protect the school from viruses and other penetrations or cyber-attacks
    ? Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, including connectivity, performance, and security issues
    ? Monitor network usage, bandwidth, and security to optimize performance and prevent unauthorized access
    ? Implement monitoring tools to track system performance and generate reports
    ? Provide regular reports on the status of the IT infrastructure and make recommendations for improvements
    ? Provide technical support to end-users when network-related issues arise


    Server Administration:
    ? Manage and maintain servers, ensuring they operate efficiently and securely
    ? Install, configure, and update server software and applications
    ? Implement backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical data
    System Administration:
    ? Function as the subject matter expert and backend support on the school's systems such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace for Education, and other relevant systems that support and protect the school
    ? Manage user accounts, including access control, password management, group/organizational unit management, and the on/offboarding process to ensure security and compliance with school policies
    ? Administer and support operating systems (e.g., Windows/Chrome OS)
    ? Deploy and manage software applications, updates, and patches
    ? Deploy and maintain 1:1 device management solution (e.g. Intune)
    ? Manage the efficiency and effectiveness of the printer system (e.g. Papercut)
    ? Provide technical support to end-users when systems-related issues arise


    Cybersecurity Management:
    ? Plan, implement and maintain security measures to protect the school's IT infrastructure
    ? Monitor and respond to security incidents, conduct regular security audits, penetration testing, and enforce security policies
    ? Keep abreast of security threats and implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks
    ? Develop and provide cybersecurity training for staff and faculty


    Collaboration/Communication:
    ? Collaborate with other IT professionals, teachers, and staff to ensure the effective use of technology.
    ? Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
    ? Ensure compliance with IT policies and procedures.
    ? Stay informed about advancements in technology and recommend upgrades or enhancements.


    Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    ? Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred
    ? Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, etc.
    ? Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks
    ? Understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and VPN
    ? Hands-on experience with server administration, including installing, configuring, and maintaining server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server)
    ? Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) for automation of routine tasks
    ? Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware
    ? Knowledge of backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical data
    ? Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace for Education administrative experience preferred
    ? Experience implementing 1:1 device management solutions such as inTune
    ? Demonstrated experience in project management, especially related to improving cybersecurity
    ? Must be self-motivated, proactive, positive, and results oriented
    ? Must demonstrate strong analytical and strategic thinking skills and an ability to work well under pressure
    ? Works effectively on a team, while at the same time can work independently to prioritize tasks and maintain project timelines/deadlines with minimal supervision
    ? Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
