About Lista StudioLista Studio is a Brooklyn-based creative studio for teens and young artists committed to nurturing creativity, confidence, and artistic voice.

We are an inclusive environment dedicated to nurturing creativity, confidence, and self-expression through both structured and open-ended art programs.Our Summer Art Intensive for middle school students (Grades 6–8) offers immersive, two-week studio sessions culminating in a public exhibition.
Each session combines technical skill-building, creative experimentation, and curatorial learning.Position Overview
We are seeking practicing visual artists and educators to lead one or more summer sessions (2 weeks) within our Middle School Summer Art Intensive.
Teaching Artists are invited to bring their distinct artistic voice and methodology into the studio while fostering technical skill-building, critical thinking, and collaborative dialogue.
This role is ideal for artists who see teaching as an extension of their studio practice.Instructors will design and lead a themed session consisting of:
Daily morning or afternoon classes (2-hour instructional blocks)
Open studio mentorship (1-hour block)
Each session culminates in a public student exhibition, with instructors guiding students through curation and installation.
Focus Areas (One or More)
Painting (watercolor, acrylic, surface exploration, scale)
Mixed Media (collage, assemblage)
Sculpture / 3D Practices (papier-mâché, wire, clay)
Printmaking (block printing, screen printing)
Visual Narrative / Illustration (comics, storytelling, animation)
We welcome interdisciplinary approaches and experimental frameworks.
Responsibilities
Design and implement a cohesive two-week curriculum aligned with your proposed theme.
Lead daily instruction and facilitate skill development.
Guide students through critique, discussion, and reflective practice.
Collaborate with the Studio Manager to ensure smooth operations.
Support exhibition planning, curation, and installation.
Maintain a supportive, inclusive, and well-managed studio environment.

Experience teaching middle school students (Grades 6–8) in a group setting.
Strong technical knowledge in at least one focus area (drawing, painting, sculpture, etc.).
Ability to scaffold skill-building while encouraging experimentation.
Familiarity with modern and contemporary art practices.
Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.

Session 1:
June 29 – July 10
Session 2:
July 13 – July 24
Session 3:
July 27 – August 7
Session 4:
August 10 – August 14 (One-Week Intensive)
Daily Schedule:
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Location:
In-person at Lista Studio, Industry City (Brooklyn)
Compensation:
$50-$60/ hour
