    Airport Lounge Cook

    Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

    Cook Job Summary

    The Cook will prepare food according to recipes and food/health safety regulations for customer consumption in The Club lounge opening inside the San Francisco International Airport. They will split their time between preparing and cooking food in the back of the house kitchen and cooking and presenting food to guests on the front finishing line and action station.

    • Conflict Resolution – Deescalate situations in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Problem Solving – Develop solutions to remove obstacles to problems that may arise.

    Cook Primary Job Duties

    • Set up and break down workstations.
    • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation.
    • Cook and prepare food according to production guidelines and recipes.
    • Perform work on front line, cooking for guests in action station.
    • Knowledge of food product, identification, and acceptable level of food quality.
    • Ensure food is stored at the appropriate temperature for the appropriate length of time and follow all food safety standards.
    • Complete daily temperature logs.
    • Must know methods of food preparation, cooking times, and portion sizes to ensure food is prepared in prescribed manner.
    • Evaluate food quality and preparedness by tasting.
    • Cut, trim, bone and carve meats and poultry for cooking.
    • Responsible for using correct portions when cutting, preparing, and serving items.
    • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
    • Must be able to safely operate all kitchen equipment.
    • Daily use of appropriate PPE for the task assigned.
    • Report all injuries immediately to your manager/supervisor.
    • Understand the proper use of and storage of chemicals used in the location. Be familiar with the chemical MSDS book and its contents.
    • Assist with stocking buffet and cleaning as necessary.
    • Assist with the receiving of deliveries, unloading to designated areas following the FIFO method.
    • Assist with inventory counts.
    • Assist with the removal of trash throughout lounge, taking to designated disposal areas.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Cook Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

    • Minimum one year of experience in the food service industry as a cook.
    • Requires knowledge of and ability to follow all food handling safety and hygiene requirements.
    • Must pass and obtain all required certifications/licenses, including but not limited to ServSafe Food Handler certification.
    • Demonstrates the ability to interact with guests and coworkers in a friendly and enthusiastic manner.
    • Ability to effectively and pleasantly present information in one-on-one and group settings to guests and other team members of the Company.
    • Requires ability to maintain composure under pressure and awareness of surroundings and cultural differences.
    • Requires ability to maintain a presentable and polished appearance in keeping with service standards in a best-in-class environment.
    • Physical ability and stamina to stand for long hours.
    • Availability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
    • Multi-tasking abilities.
    • Good oral communication skills.
    • Ability to handle the stress of a face-paced work shift up to ten (10) hours.
    • Requires the ability to lift and / or move up to 40 pounds.
    • Requires the ability to walk, bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions.
    • Report on work on a regular and timely basis.
    • Must be able to pass and obtain security background check and clearance to work in airport environment.
