    Key Responsibilities: As a Water Aerobics Instructor, you'll plan and conduct energetic aquatic fitness
    classes, incorporating a variety of exercises suitable for different fitness levels. Your responsibilities include
    demonstrating proper techniques, ensuring participant safety, and creating a supportive and inclusive
    environment. With enthusiasm and expertise, you'll inspire participants to achieve their fitness goals while
    enjoying the benefits of water-based exercise.

    Description of Duties
    General
    • Ensure you are knowledgeable about all SVCA pool & community center rules.
      Maintain a safe exercise environment by enforcing pool rules, inspecting & monitoring equipment
      prior to & during a class, and being prepared to respond to emergencies or injuries.
    • Develop and plan water aerobics routines that cater to various fitness levels and goals, ensuring
      they are safe, effective, and enjoyable for participants. Lesson plans need to be documented ahead
      of class time.
    • Conduct water aerobics classes, leading participants through a series of exercises and movements
      in the water while providing clear instructions and demonstrations.
    • Stay up-to-date with current trends, research, and best practices in water aerobics and fitness
      instruction, continuously expanding your knowledge and skills.
    • Foster a positive and supportive community within your classes, building rapport with participants
      and creating an environment where they feel motivated and welcomed back to another class.
    Minimum Experience & Qualifications
    • Water Aerobics Instructors Certificate required.
    • Previous experience teaching fitness classes required.
    • Lifeguard certification required.
    • Ability to pass pre-employment background test & drug screening test.
    • Flexible schedule (including weekends) required
    Works under the direction of the Assistant Manager of Parks & Recreation and Head Lifeguard.

    Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
    Bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and carrying approximately 25 pounds at waist high level.
    Frequent sitting, some standing, and walking required. Use of computer terminal and keyboard. Moderate to
    high requirement for hand coordination, visual ability, and cognitive abilities. Must tolerate moderate noise
    levels and interruptions in an open office environment. Works indoors in controlled conditions and outdoors
    in potential inclement weather.
