- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with department managers and supervisors to understand skills and competencies required for openings at all Michigan locations.
- Administers required pre-employment screening as required (physical, drug screening, and background).
- Conducts with new hire orientation.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Assists in development and implementation of human resources policies.
- Gathers and analyzes data with key metrics.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
- Participates or leads company committees (Engagement, Safety, Community)
- Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Cross-train in other areas of the Human Resources team to appropriately cover and support the department.
- Support the CJK Group Core Values effort throughout the company.
- Supports employee engagement activities, including communication through electronic boards, bulletin boards, and newsletters.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Minimum of one-year Human Resource Generalist experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience recruiting and onboarding employees.
- General knowledge of employment law and HR policies and procedures.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Three plus years of Human Resource Generalist experience.
- Human Resources Certification (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR)
