    Description
    *Summary: The RN in the pediatric emergency room (ER) is responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate care to pediatric patients presenting with various medical conditions, injuries, or traumas. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the RN ensures efficient triage, assessment, treatment, and monitoring of pediatric patients in a fast-paced environment.

    *Responsibilities:
    • Perform thorough assessments of pediatric patients, including obtaining medical history, vital signs, and chief complaints.
    • Prioritize patient care based on the acuity of their condition, ensuring those with the most critical needs receive immediate attention.
    • Administer medications, initiate IV access, and perform procedures as ordered by physicians or advanced practice providers.
    • Assist in stabilizing pediatric patients experiencing respiratory distress, seizures, trauma, or other acute conditions.
    • Utilize pediatric-specific equipment and techniques to provide safe and effective care.
    • Communicate effectively with pediatric patients and their families, providing education and emotional support throughout their healthcare journey.
    • Collaborate with families to develop individualized care plans and address their concerns and preferences.
    • Foster a supportive and empathetic environment to alleviate anxiety and promote trust and cooperation.
    • Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure continuity of services.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, sharing pertinent patient information and contributing to care decisions.
    • Serve as an advocate for pediatric patients and their families within the healthcare team and the broader healthcare system.
    • Maintain accurate and comprehensive electronic health records, documenting assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
    • Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory requirements governing pediatric emergency care.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, satisfaction, and outcomes.
    *Qualifications: *- *Current RN licensure in the New York state of practice.

    • Minimum 2 years of experience of pediatric emergency care is desirable.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
