    The CLAWS Graduate Coaching Graduate Assistant supports the day-to-day programming of graduate coaching support as a member of the Administrative Team in the Wingspan: Center for Learning and Writing Support.

    The GA assists the Program Manager, Graduate Writing and Support with the training, ongoing professional development, and observation of the graduate coaching service.

    The GA coordinates the research and design of the graduate coaching service and practices holistic coaching strategies through individual coaching appointments.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assists the Wingspan's administrative team with coaching training and development, including pre-semester training, scheduling, and coaching observations
    • Provides individual graduate coaching and writing consultations to graduate students
    • Supports the administrative team with coordinating and facilitating additional programming for KU students, including workshops, writing groups, Thesis/Dissertation Accelerator, Fridays on Fourth, and more
    • Serves on hiring committees for Graduate Coaching positions
    • Develops and updates graduate coaching materials
    • Participates in writing center administrative team meetings
    • Other duties as assigned
    Required Qualifications


    • KU graduate student in good academic standing enrolled full time (6 hours or doctoral students enrolled in dissertation hours) in an on-campus or hybrid program (not fully online)
    • Tutoring experience in a high school or college setting
    • Knowledge of graduate school ecologies and best practices for supporting graduate writers
    • Superior oral and written communication skills, as demonstrated in application materials and interview responses
    • Demonstrated ability to organize and deliver presentations/workshops to a variety of audiences
    • Ability to take initiative and work independently, while also collaborating tactfully with a varied group of campus professionals
    Preferred Qualifications


    • Previous work experience in the KU Wingspan: Center for Learning and Writing Support
    • Demonstrated commitment to working with graduate students with a variety of learning experiences and backgrounds
    • Demonstrated experience leading long-term projects and coordinating events
    • Familiarity with Navigate Student App and Jayhawk GPS
