    Responsibilities The Director, Indirect Tax will be responsible for leading and managing Patterns Indirect Tax Function, including analysis, planning, forecasting, review and filing of all US sales & use tax (SUT), Canadian GST/HST/VAT, and US and Canadian property tax (PT) returnsmanaging indirect tax risks and auditsEngaging Pattern business leaders and providing input on the indirect tax implications of business strategies and transactionsMentoring and developing the indirect tax team.

    Key ResponsibilitesKey point of contact for Pattern business indirect tax support Indirect tax implications during prospective project developmentIndirect tax implications and compliance during project constructionIndirect tax implications and evolving issues for Patterns operating projectsMonitor and provide support for emerging indirect tax changes and trendsAnnual forecasting and budgeting of indirect tax liabilitiesMentor and develop the indirect tax teamLead efforts to automate and streamline indirect tax compliance and reporting processesFinal review and approval of indirect tax compliance filingsManage indirect tax risks - audits and notices from tax authoritiesOversee property tax assessments and manage strategies to properly minimize including use of long term in lieu of agreementsQualifications Educational RequirementsBachelors Degree in Accounting/Economics/Business or similarCPA is a plus12+ years of relevant experience in the corporate and/or public accounting firm working in Indirect Tax areaAdditional RequirementsSolid understanding of U.S.

    sales/use tax lawsSolid understanding of Canadian value added tax lawsSolid understanding of U.S.

    property tax lawsExperience managing and developing other individualsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsDetail-oriented with strong quantitative and analytical skillsAbove average organizational skillsPreferred San Francisco hybrid work locationTechnical SkillsStrong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Teams and Outlook)Experience with indirect tax compliance softwareExperience with indirect tax research softwareThe expected starting pay range for this role is $137,000 - $186,000 USD.

    This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education.

    In addition to base pay, Patterns compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
