    Job DescriptionSalary: DOE

    Teche Action Clinic, A Federally Qualified Health Center, per Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act, is currently seeking qualified applicants for the LPC position based at our St. John Parish School-Based Health Centers. Services are delivered face-to-face and by interactive, technology-assisted teletherapy.

    This position will rotate between the following School-Based Health Centers in St. John Parish:

    West St. John Elementary

    2555 LA HWY 18
    Edgard, LA 70049

    East St. John High

    1 Wildcat Drive
    Reserve, LA 70084

    Laplace Elementary

    393 Greenwood Drive
    LaPlace, LA 70068

    JOB SUMMARY:
    Provide, oversee, and/or administer a wide range of psychosocial evaluations/assessments, diagnostic, counseling therapy, crisis intervention, resourcing, and case management services which require a high degree of independent decision-making and program administration; record appropriate documentation of services including patient diagnosis and education in the electronic health record; initiate and implement
    behavioral interventions; Work is performed in an office setting. Under the direction of the clinical supervisor, the LPC will provide individual, group, crisis intervention, and/or family psychotherapy to children, adolescent, and adult populations; provide counseling to students experiencing social, emotional, and vocational difficulties at home, school, and community; conduct assessments as appropriate for license and make appropriate referrals for services; consult with families and faculty as appropriate for students, and perform outreach activities in the school and community.

    JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Provide case management, counseling and psychosocial assessments in an office setting; perform a risk assessment on all students seeking care in the SBHC; ensure appropriate psychosocial services are in place; assess needs of patients and personal support systems; build relationships with patients and advocate for their needs; develop and coordinate comprehensive service plans for all patients; monitor patients to assess
    the efficacy of the service plan; maintain accurate and timely records; maintain thorough knowledge of referral resources; collect data about patients through interview, case history, risk assessments, and/or observational techniques; participate in the collection of mental health information and student outcomes data to be used for monitoring the overall performance and effectiveness of services provided; evaluate data
    to identify causes of problems and to determine proper approaches or referral to other specialists; consult with other related professional and paraprofessional staff, as appropriate, in the performance of casework; refer clients to appropriate service agencies as required; improve the effectiveness of communication among caregivers; attend regularly scheduled staff, student ambassador, quality improvement, and advisory committee meetings; provide consultation for school staff regarding mental health issues of clients (as appropriate); use only standardized abbreviations, acronyms and symbols that are used throughout the organization; reduce the risk of healthcare acquired infections; comply with hand hygiene guidelines

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education/Experience:
    Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in the Mental Health Counseling Field (e.g. Psychology, Social Work, Counseling Education or Human Services)
    Possess and maintain Licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Louisiana which must be unrestricted, current, complete, and active; Maintain CEU requirements necessary for license renewal in Louisiana
    Minimum of one year experience required

    Communication Ability:
    Proficient in the English language, both in writing and speaking to be able to communicate clearly with all stakeholders, including patients, families, clinic staff and other healthcare professionals
    Ability to effectively use verbal and written communication to share psychosocial information
    Highly developed active listening, clarification, reflection and effective questioning skills
    Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public

    Math Skills:
    Basic math skills; Mathematical and statistical skills to understand the statistical concepts that support psychological research; read and interpret research articles, including interpreting tables, graphs, and statistical analyses

    Reasoning Ability:
    Possess strong reasoning and thinking skills
    Possess highly developed skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives
    Possess highly developed skill in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action
    Critical thinking skills when making diagnoses and developing treatment plans; keep up to date on research trends; basic knowledge of psychiatric medications
    Possess highly developed skill in exercising judgment and discretion in developing, applying, interpreting, and coordinating clinic policies and procedures

    Computer Skills:
    Possess strong computer skills, including working with word processing and data entering applications, as well as with medical software applications
    Intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and the Internet
    Education/training or work experience in computer basics and data entry, output, and reporting
    Intermediate proficiency in the use of basic office/computer software (i.e. computer, Microsoft, email, fax machine, printer, telephone/voicemail, etc.)
    Technology competence: EHR systems, email, smartphone

    Highly knowledgeable with DSM diagnosis and ICD coding
    Possess strong understanding of societies and their impact on mental health

    Ability to maintain a good working relationship with colleagues
    Ability to build and maintain rapport with clients and their supports

    Highly knowledgeable in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional, behavioral, and/or addictive disorders and in psychoeducational techniques aimed at the prevention of such disorders
    Consultation to individuals, families, groups, and organizations
    Research into more effective therapeutic treatment modalities
    Cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and psychodynamic therapies
    Knowledge of principles and practices of health care planning and management sufficient to manage, direct and coordinate the operation of a health care organization
    Knowledge of the purposes, organization and policies of the community's health systems sufficient to interact with other health care providers
    Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with peers, employees, policy-making bodies, third-party payers, patients, caregivers, and the public
    Skill in organizing work, making assignments, and achieving goals and objectives
    Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the clinic sufficient to direct its operations and to provide effective patient care
    Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment
    Ability to be culturally sensitive and effective when working with ethnically diverse populations
    Ability to assume responsibility and exercise authority over assigned work functions
    Ability to establish and maintain quality control standards
    Ability to organize and integrate organizational priorities and deadlines

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • All employees must meet eligibility standards in order to be considered for the position applying for. Internal applicants must be with be with the organization for at least one year, with no disciplinary actions on file. If you have not been with the organization for a year, approval from your direct supervisor will be needed.
