    Overview



    The Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C), a public-private partnership managed by SRI, seeks a Quantum Computing Benchmarking Applications Intern. QED-C, the premier quantum industry consortium, has the mission to enable and grow the quantum industry and supply chain. It includes participants and partners from more than 250 industry, academic and government organizations worldwide.     This position can work fully remote, or a hybrid schedule if local to our Menlo Park, CA; Boulder, CO; or Arlington, VA office.





    Responsibilities



    QED-C seeks one or more interns to assist in implementing new and enhancing several existing application-oriented benchmark programs and techniques in a public open-source project. The intern will implement algorithms to run on quantum computing simulators and on multiple quantum computing hardware systems, including publicly available systems.

    Several leading quantum computing companies are involved in the effort and the individuals will interact with and learn from technical experts in the quantum industry.





    Qualifications

      Expertise in at least one (preferably more) quantum programming environments such as Qiskit, Cirq, Braket, and Q#
    • Experience implementing quantum algorithms on NISQ computers
    • Working knowledge of Python and GitHub


    Desired qualifications:

    • Familiarity with existing quantum computing software repositories, e.g., on GitHub and particularly
    • Familiarity with common quantum computing benchmarking methodologies
    • Experience with jupyter-notebook, plotting libraries, cloud-based or containerized deployment of applications, and graphical user interfaces

    The salary range is: $20/hr - $45/hr. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
