    Position Information Position Title Lecturer in Disability Studies: Applied Behavior Analysis Job Responsibilities A non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer in Education: Disability Studies: Applied Behavior Analysis is available in the online program in Disability Studies: Applied Behavior Analysis. This appointment is part-time, ( hours per week) for months per year. Truman State University is a top-ranked public liberal arts and sciences university.

    The successful candidate will lead the Disability Studies; Applied Behavior Analysis Master's Degree Internship program. The Disability Studies: Applied Behavior Analysis program is composed of an eight-course graduate certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis and a larger master's degree in Disability Studies with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis. The successful candidate will coordinate the internship program in the master's degree. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Day-to-day leadership of the program, communicating with current and upcoming internship students, communicating with affiliated faculty, and coordinating with appropriate Truman colleagues.
  • Supervising of internships and practica (if needed) *, including vetting each potential supervisor, ensuring supervisors agree to Truman standards of supervision, and meeting with each supervisor-supervisee dyad in mid-semester (or once each semester for the internship) to ensure students are on track to meet requirements for fieldwork. * The practica is no longer required for completion of this degree however it is available if a student needs supervised fieldwork, due to not being able to locate a BCBA in the field to supervise their required fieldwork. 0 -0 hours of Fieldwork is required by the BACB to be eligible to take the BCBA exam.
  • Course load will typically include two courses per semester (fall and spring). Courses are offered in eight-week blocks, which means this position will teach no more than one course at any given time.
  • Collaborating with the newly established Greenwood Interprofessional Autism Center at Truman to align program activities with Center goals.
  • Program : The Master of Arts in Disability Studies: Applied Behavior Analysis is an online degree program that equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to become caring, competent, and culturally aware practitioners of applied behavior analysis. This program prepares students for a career working alongside neurodiverse individuals and their families. The master's embeds the coursework necessary to complete the educational requirements leading to certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Master's students complete all the coursework required of students in the Applied Behavior Analysis Graduate Certificate while also completing core coursework in Disability Studies. Students already possessing a master's degree need only to complete the graduate certificate to move forward on their path to professional credentialing.The special blend of coursework in this program equips students to become behavior analysts with unique understandings of disability. Students who complete this program will be equipped to practice behavior analysis, understand development throughout the lifespan, and increase their ability to assess and develop interventions that are effective and socially significant. The program gives particular attention to mastering key skills required for licensure and putting those into practice through practicum and internship coursework.

    The Center: The former Greenwood Elementary School is a treasured community building in Kirksville. Originally built in 5, the school served elementary students in Kirksville for more than six decades. Truman bought the building in 9 when the Kirksville School District built a new school. In the fall of 5, Truman launched a plan to convert the building to an interprofessional center designed to provide in-depth, interdisciplinary assessment and intervention for children with autism or suspected autism as well as other neurodevelopmental disorders. The project has since received strong bipartisan support in the Missouri Assembly, and under three governors. This comprehensive health services center will be staffed with licensed professionals in addition to supervised graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in various academic programs. The center, scheduled to open in Spring 4, will serve as a much-needed practicum (fieldwork) site for a number of the academic programs. It will also provide a valuable opportunity for students to engage in "hands-on" high-impact learning experiences. ()

  • 3-years direct experience working with individuals diagnosed with Autism or other neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Prior experience teaching courses with a focus on the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of credentialed BCBAs.
  • Understanding of HIPAA compliance
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications Candidates can further strengthen their candidacy by possessing one or more of the following:

  • 5 years direct experience working with individuals diagnosed with Autism or other neurodevelopmental disorders.

  • Prior leadership experiences within an academic or clinical setting.
